Now that the hubbub of celebration has died down, it has started to sink in that Rosalie has turned one year old and is exiting baby-dom and quickly entering toddlerhood.
As a one year old, Rosalie is still a very happy girl. She can wave, clap and blow kisses. She delights in doing all of these things, especially in the company of strangers--in the elevator, on the subway, at the park.
She still doesn't have any teeth (although there is one just about to break through), but that doesn't stop her from eating anything. She currently loves toast, cream cheese, zucchini, sweet potatoes, mac n cheese, and hummus. Her love of food (and its effect on her thighs) has earned her the nickname "drumsticks".
She can crawl, pull herself to standing, and cruise along the wall and furniture. She can stand on her own when she isn't paying attention. The only word she can say, only occasionally in context, is "uh oh".
Taking after my side of the family, she has been a champion sleeper this year. She sleeps from about 6:30 pm-6:30 am and take two naps a day. Displaying that Jon's blood does run through her, Rosie is determined and single-focused in getting what she wants (often a toy, the remote control, her bottle) and doesn't like to take "no" for an answer.
Despite occasional confusion, fear, and early sleep deprivation, Jon and I have made it through the our first year as parents with lots of smiles and laughs. We are so proud of our little girl, are incredibly grateful for all the support we've received from family and friends, and look forward to year two (and beyond!).
