Exhibiting early fashionista tendencies

News flash....Rosie is exhibiting early fashionista tendencies.  Despite the fact that she hardly ever leaves the house, she insists on changing outfits multiple times a day.  Here she is pictured in another one of her cute onesies from Gammy Peggy.

Rosie's First Bath!!!

Today was a momentous occasion for young Rosie, her very first bath. Much to our surprise, there were more smiles than tears. Her bathtub even turned into a jacuzzi. Check out the video of this amazing transformation.

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go!

Dad decided to dress Rosie up in one of the gender neutral outfits that Gammy Peggy bought before she was born. No pinks and purples for our little Rosie the Riveter...or at least not when Dad's dressing her:)

Dad Welcomes Rosalie into the World

This video of Rosalie was taken one hour after she was born.  The video was taken by Kyle, our trusty multi-talented 3rd year UCSF medical student who was present for nearly the entire birthing process.  Not to worry, Kyle was not simultaneously responsible for delivering the baby and shooting video of the event:)

In fact, Baby Rosalie was delivered by a 2nd year resident who did his undergrad work at Harvard---which I can say with confidence because I googled him and all of the other residents who worked with us!  Wireless access and a laptop are very handy tools in a labor & delivery suite.

On a related note, turns out that the end of June is an interesting time at teaching hospitals because the experienced residents are all transitioning up or out while the new ones who don't always seem to know what the heck they are doing are transitioning in.

Our favorite example of this was the 1st year resident who walked into our delivery suite and said, "Wow, this is some view!"  Translation: It's my first week on the job and I have never been in this room let alone delivered an actual baby.  Be afraid, very afraid!

All kidding aside, the doctors, nurses, and midwives who cared for us were all incredible.  We would highly recommend UCSF to anyone delivering in the Bay Area.

Everything is Rosie, Since I Found My Rosie

Fans of Rosie,

Please enjoy the closing song in Bye Bye Birdie....the relevant part picks up at ~4:30 minutes.

Many thanks to Aunt Amy for tracking this down online and for Papa Jon Harris for bringing the relevance of this particular show tune to our attention.

We love you Rosie!

First Trip to the Doctor

Rosalie had her first trip to the doctor today. The doc confirmed that everything looks good and healthy. As you can see from the last pic, he even taught Jon a useful comfort technique for when she cries. Rosie doesn't look very comforted in the pic, but she did in real life!

Look Familiar?

So, do we think the 41 week ultrasound was an accurate portrayal?

For Benjamin O Leff v2

Famous words first spoken by Bunny Leff and echoed by Jeremy Spitzberg..."Family--it's what's important." We feel very blessed that little Rosalie has no shortage of family around to give her love.

A few more shots of Rosalie from the first few moments and days.

Rosalie's First Book

We are wasting no time teaching Rosie about the important things in life.

Here's Dad reading Rosalie her very first book. Fine literature? Definitely not. Did Dad get a big kick out of it? Absolutely. Thank you Dale & Elliott! Go Bucks!
