How is it that Sam is already three years old?!

Sam is quite silly and animated in how he talks and tells stories. He has this very specific intonation, way of rolling his eyes, and holding his head that is hard to explain in words, but is so so funny in person. 

Sam is very verbal and can provide great detail and points of view on situations. The other night he said the following (I'm paraphrasing), "Mama, the snack you packed for me at school was gross. I didn't eat it. I gave it to Juniper. She ate it. Dana offered me some grapes, but I don't like grapes. I ate cheddar bunnies. Tomorrow, please pack me a cheese stick and yogurt."

As you might infer from the above story, he is going through a fairly strong picky eating phase. He still gulps down salty meat, but consistently rejects most fruits, vegetables, starches and proteins. These days, he mostly exists on yogurt, cheese, orange juice and french toast. 

There is absolutely no napping and hasn't been for about 6 months. This makes the late afternoon quite emotional for all of us, but bedtime is a snap. Most days, especially weekends, he's asleep the second he gets into bed. Unfortunately, dropping his nap hasn't pushed back his wake up time; he consistently wakes up around 6 am. 

When he wants to know something, he will instruct me to "talk about it". He'll point to a picture or refer to something like a birthday party we went to and just say, "talk about it", which means he wants me to tell him all the relevant details so he can listen.

Sam and Rosie have formed a really sweet sibling relationship. Most of the time, they are happy play mates and even friends. Sam continues to adore, mimic and gamely play along with anything Rosie asks him to do.

He has very good hand eye coordination, much like his father did at a young age (or so Jon likes to tell me on a regular basis). He has become a proficient scooter, although not the safest. We are currently in a week-long scooter ban based on some poor listening on Sam's part over the weekend. Next up--the balance bike and swim lessons!
