Dad Welcomes Rosalie into the World

This video of Rosalie was taken one hour after she was born.  The video was taken by Kyle, our trusty multi-talented 3rd year UCSF medical student who was present for nearly the entire birthing process.  Not to worry, Kyle was not simultaneously responsible for delivering the baby and shooting video of the event:)

In fact, Baby Rosalie was delivered by a 2nd year resident who did his undergrad work at Harvard---which I can say with confidence because I googled him and all of the other residents who worked with us!  Wireless access and a laptop are very handy tools in a labor & delivery suite.

On a related note, turns out that the end of June is an interesting time at teaching hospitals because the experienced residents are all transitioning up or out while the new ones who don't always seem to know what the heck they are doing are transitioning in.

Our favorite example of this was the 1st year resident who walked into our delivery suite and said, "Wow, this is some view!"  Translation: It's my first week on the job and I have never been in this room let alone delivered an actual baby.  Be afraid, very afraid!

All kidding aside, the doctors, nurses, and midwives who cared for us were all incredible.  We would highly recommend UCSF to anyone delivering in the Bay Area.
