Milkshake heart to heart

For the past 4-6 weeks, Rosalie has been struggling mightily with bedtime. Some nights it has taken up to two hours to get her to stay in bed, stop crying and fall asleep. We've tried many, many approaches and none seemed to do anything but get her more worked up. On Sunday, over her first milkshake (strawberry), Rosie and I had a heart-to-heart. She was able to tell me that she missed her pacifier because it helped her not to cry and that she wanted us to leave her door open at night so that her room wouldn't be so dark. I explained that her pacifiers were gone, but that we could leave the door open. For the past two nights, she has gone down without a single protest. Points in the column of sugar-bribes and collaborative problem solving!
