Minnesota State Fair 40th Birthday
I turned 40 on Friday and to celebrate we went to the Minnesota State Fair with the kids on Saturday. Marcee attended annually as a kid, but for the rest of us it was our first time. The fair is truly the Midwest at its best wth things like life size butter sculptures, all you can drink milk for $2 and the "miracle of life" building where you can see pigs, chicks, lambs and calves being born. But it's also the Midwest at its worst from a caloric intake perspective with fried pickles and smores, buckets of chocolate chip cookies, bacon, bacon and more bacon for sale in endless varieties. The kids particularly enjoyed the skyway ride and "the big slide" and it was generally an excellent 40th b day celebration. But we all came home exhausted and with stomach aches. Below are some pics of the day's events.
